Protect Your Eyes Against UV Rays With the Right Sunglasses in Lloydminster

Safety Meets Style

One of the easiest ways to keep your eyes healthy is to wear sunglasses when out in direct sunlight. They’re available everywhere from your local drugstore to your supermarket. But not all sunglasses can provide the same kind of protection against the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. If you want to make sure you’re getting high-performance, high-quality sunglasses in Lloydminster, head over to Eye Expressions. We carry a wide variety of options with different frames and lenses to best fit your face and your sense of style. Whether you want something sporty or something more high fashion, you can find it here!

Sunglasses Can Help Prevent Damage to Your Eyes

Why You Should be Wearing Sunglasses

The sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light is very harmful for the thin, sensitive skin around your eyes. Your eyes themselves can also easily be severely affected by the sun’s rays, so wearing sunglasses is crucial for their protection. Without them, you’re leaving your eyes at risk of the following:

=

Cataracts

Many people who develop cataracts have had their eyes damaged by extended UV exposure.

=

Macular Degeneration

When your retina is damaged, your central vision will be affected. Macular degeneration is a common cause of blindness.

=

Pterygium

Pterygium is a tissue growth over the white part of the surface of your eye. It can change the curve of your eye, causing astigmatism and other problems.

=

Photokeratitis

Also known as snow blindness, it causes the eye to become bloodshot, swollen and sensitive to light after prolonged exposure to the sun.

As soon as the sun starts to shine, make sure you slip on your sunglasses! Please also keep in mind that certain medications can increase your eye’s sensitivity to sunlight. Your doctor may recommend wearing sunglasses more often if this is the case.
